UTME Results Cannot Be Valid For Three Years – JAMB


The Joint Admission And Matriculation Board (JAMB) has rejected the recommendation by the senate that UTME Results should be valid for 3 years.
This was made know by the Registrar of JAMB, Prof. Dibu Ojerinde, Abuja during the opening ceremony of JAMB-UNEB Benchmark on Item Banking.




Earlier the Senate had suggested that Jamb make the results valid for three years.

Meanwhile, the senate has asked JAMB to consider increasing the validity of its results from one to three years to reduce the number of yearly applicants.

According to him, such recommendation will only distort and delay the future of students across the country.
He further stated that there are certain things to consider before demanding that UTME Results be valid for 3 years.
On the issue of allowing Cyber Cafes as registration centres, the JAMB Boss stated that Cyber Cafes can not be allowed as registration centres because they will mess up the process, thereby creating problems for JAMB.

Following the adoption of the motion on “JAMB’s new admission policy” which was sponsored by Senator Joshua Lidani of Gombe South and seven others, the Nigerian senate has asked the senate committee on education to invite the leadership of Joint Admission And Matriculation Board to ascertain and look into the circumstances surrounding the new JAMB Admission Policy.
The senate also told the committee to consult relevant stake holders like the Parents Teachers Association, Academic Staff Union of Universities in order to come up with a more acceptable admission policy.

According to the sponsor of the motion, the new JAMB policy is contrary to the JAMB Act as stipulated in the constitution.


Meanwhile, the senate has asked JAMB to consider increasing the validity of its results from one to three years to reduce the number of yearly applicants.



The Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB) is a Nigerian entrance examination board for tertiary-level institutions. The board conducts entrance examinationsfor prospective undergraduates into Nigerian universities. The board is also charged with the responsibility to administer similar examinations for applicants to Nigerian public and private monotechnics, polytechnics, and colleges of educations.
